Are you progressing as fast as you thought you should in your fitness journey? Here are some of the most common mistakes that can keep you from reaching your fitness goals.

1 Not Learning Correct Form

Training with bad form not only prevents you from actually hitting the muscles you’re trying to train, but it also increases your risk of injury. The former prevents you from making real profits. The latter keeps you out of training altogether.

2. Not Watching Your Diet

Training is only part of the equation. If you want to reach your fitness goals, you also need to diet properly. You need to give your body the fuel it needs to not only perform at its best in the gym, but to recover bigger and stronger from every workout.

3. Overdoing it and then overdoing it too quickly

Instead of doing it all out at the gym for a month and quitting, start small and focus on making consistent progress over time. This is the key to long-term success.

4. Too Little

Of course, sometimes too little. The goal is to get enough exercise in the gym to trigger a positive alignment in your body. That means lifting weights that are challenging enough or running/cycling at a pace that is challenging enough. You should do a combination of cardio and resistance training. The former helps build endurance, burn fat, and keep your heart healthy. The latter helps build muscle and strength, improve bone density, and increase resting metabolism while burning fat.

5. Not Making Progress

To keep making progress in your workouts, you need to challenge your body. For example, when it comes to strength training, you can do this by lifting more weight, doing more reps, doing more sets, or any combination of the three.

You can’t really build strength, muscle or endurance in the gym. This can happen between workouts if you’re getting enough sleep and eating nutritious foods in between.

6.Not Listening to Your Body

The body is the ultimate gauge of what is working and what is not. All research and expert recommendations regarding sets, reps, weights, training frequency, etc. are ultimately guidelines only.

So if he needs a week to recover between workouts, give yourself that much time. If a single set total body workout works for you, do it. If you’re benefiting from high-intensity, low-rep training, keep doing it.

7. Avoid exercise

Consistency is one of the most important keys to achieving your fitness goals. Of course, if you don’t like your workout log, you can’t be consistent. So stick to activities that you enjoy, or try other, more enjoyable methods with your trainer.
